Is a butcher from Davis CA. Originally from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, she came to UC Davis in 2009 to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Her plan was to become a veterinary surgeon, so as a freshman, she began working at the slaughterhouse on campus to get hands-on anatomy practice. She ended up working at the facility for almost 6 years and went on to work meat counters in Sacramento CA (11 miles east of Davis) after graduating in Animal Science.
She was the head butcher at V. Miller Meats, a whole animal butcher shop located in East Sacramento. After a brief hiatus into food safety, she returned to her calling in butchery. She is HACCP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) Lead Auditor certified. She currently works as a meat cutter and supervisor at the Davis Food Coop and works with the UC Davis Meat Lab in training and support of meat students. The growing need for a healthier food system has fueled her passion to provide customers and loved ones with well raised local meat.
